The Jeans Makers

"Bangkok Through Poster" is an annual exhibition exploring Thai political thought through posters—a medium that offers alternative perspectives on politics to the public. 2024 marked the fifth edition of the event, held in collaboration with the Museum of Popular History. The theme focuses on movie posters inspired by people’s political movements, both past and present.
My poster (Top row, 3rd from left) visualizes the political memory of female garment workers at a jeans factory who decided to protest in October 1975 to demand higher wages and better welfare. This artwork aims to propose whether, during the flourishing of democracy or in over 40 years of storytelling about the 6 October 1976 Massacre, the presence of women has remained faint in political memory, even in contemporary artspaces, until now.

Kwan (魂)
The performance is an interpretation of ancient spiritual beliefs in Southeast Asia. According to local animism, Kwan is multiple spirits or life forces that protect each bodily organ and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. However, Kwan can drift away due to negative experiences and unhealthy, hectic lifestyles. This performance is the rite of passage and autoethnography, which explores how an artist's belief is socially constructed in the contemporary world.

Participatory/Protest Art
"Collage-Sadon คอลลาษฎร" (2020)
Participatory art in the protest space: A fellow artist—who wishes to remain anonymous—and I wanted to create a space for releasing political frustration. We prepared a large black paper canvas along with materials for making collage art, allowing protesters to freely cut, tear, and paste. The result was a series of large-scale pieces, some of which appeared to be in conversation with one another, even though the creators had never met.
