"Listen to Budo" is an online exhibition organized to convey stories to people about the Budo mountains in the three southern border provinces. It aims to inform outsiders about the issues faced by the local communities striving to reclaim their "land" and "community rights" through text, videos, photographs, paintings, and music.
"Budo-Su-ngai Padi" is a large mountainous area located in the three southern border provinces of Thailand: Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. It encompasses a total of 9 districts, 25 sub-districts, and 89 villages. The land use around the Budo mountains is closely linked to the livelihoods of the local communities. The villagers have devised a system called "Suan Du Song," or mixed forest gardens, where a variety of trees are interplanted within the forest. This allows humans and nature to coexist dependently and respectfully without the need to clear large trees for gardening.
The declaration of the Budo-Su-ngai Padi as a national park in 1999 directly impacted the local communities, creating overlapping areas between the national park territory and the land used for agriculture and residential purposes, affecting a total of 9 districts and 24 sub-districts.
Summer Panadd, the founder of Thai Political Tarot, participated in the project with an illustration that portrays the biodiversity where local communities live peacefully and harmoniously with the environment.
